S.F. Okay!

...just a little something to do on the drive.. ;)

..and our happy recipient..it was truly a beautiful day in the city

..til next time..

pink

So, when you have three little girls that love to play mama, the need for a proper diaper bag arises. Surprisingly, I actually completed it all in one day!

above is the lining,a natural cotton combined with a cute cotton print of soft pink flowers(though it just looks pink in the photos)

the outside is a combination of hemp, cotton polka dot, and my favorite, pink recycled sweater

Liora just couldn't resist taking a photo of her mini dog with the in progress bag.

On the outside layer, I sewed several vertical seams to make some simple pockets.

All in all it turned out pretty well,
..and now time for some rest..

felt

I'm so excited to post these hair pins! A larger version of what I have in my shop now, some of these flowers (the pinkish grey) sport some handmade wool felt
(pregnancy project when baby lil was on her way :) yes these flowers are close to my heart,
I just love how these turned out, my favorite I think. I knew I would find a good use for all those buttons.

papercraft

as promised these vintage prints made a great afternoon project,

and a safe getaway van for tiny dogs

too much sewing?

....this is why I sew....

can't you just feel the joy

the excitement of a new idea, the anticipation of the finished product, and the joy and celebration of each of the ones I love most. To create together with these magical children, and to see their ideas materialize, that is why I keep on sewing.

That and I just love it. :)
Isn't there some sort of rule somewhere about how with practice there is improvement? Well this gown was taken apart two or was it three times? It also happens to be the third one I made, so sometimes the lesson is in patience I guess.

::ALSO::

as promised two new arrivals, Snow and Tato;

from a totally addictive :) Japanese craft mag Mame Wanko

Left:Toto Center:Snow Right:Tato Sadly after this photo Tato has since gone MIA, in the garage of all places, we pray for his safe return. I suspect I'll be making a replacement sometime soon. ;)
I made this "quick knit" dress a few months ago now,(the hot pink ribbon tie has since disappeared, but it was awesome!) I'm thinkin' it's time to make another, now that fall is hinting at it's arrival. Perhaps a tinier version for our littlest Lambson......to be continued...

warm

..ah, a quiet moment with the kitty, I actually got the camera in time!

..Evan, ever so eager to jump in with every kitchen project, even something as repetitive as preparing strawberries for more jam. I just love the summer months. The smell of fresh strawberries just fills the entire kitchen, delicious ;)

::Nia has the camera again::
I just love her backyard photos, here the Pink Ladies have just bloomed

full

Sometimes keeping busy is just the thing. Sewing up allot of re purposed clothing for the kids has been keeping me very busy. Like these t-shirt shorts for big brother. Oh, and slippers from the sleeves, to match, of course!
a very quick and simple nightgown (another gifted t-shirt) for a warm August evening This lovely lacy shirt has just been cut all to pieces ;)
and has been completely remodeled into... ..this little dress/nightgown for little Lilly and ...
..and also this nightgown,
inspired by my great grandmothers
(that the girls are constantly borrowing :)

I have finally built up enough courage to try a pattern out of one of my favorite Japanese craft books. These dogs are so tiny, and completely stitched by hand. Each piece was seriously the size of a quarter or smaller. Yes, very intimidating, but after sewing this doll dress I figured, what the hey, and then gave it my best!
..and here he is, Nia completely adores him

Of course in this family, I don't just make one of anything.So yes, I'll be posting 3 more new and fantastic dogs... sometime, in the near future. :)

..our garden is growing,yet our beautiful lettuce is nothing compared to...
The Super ZUCCHINI!
It is so funny how enthusiastic these kids get over their veggies, while they grow IN the garden, or when they are ready to be harvested. Now, if I can just get that to carry over to the zucchini on their plate...ah ,yes that will be the day.

:
... a pretty awesome yard sale score...
I'm especially excited about this book with the paper pattern still intact. We are totally going to make some copies of this little red truck, I can see them all about the house already.

..I don't know much about yoyo's but this one is too cute!

..more blocks found their way into the crafting area...
spreading a little bit of joy
