Sundays with Yarno the Superdog

Every Sunday we load up and head out for the long drive across the island to the animal quarantine facility.
Always happy to see us, does he sense our arrival somehow?
So good to be near him feel his tiny heart thumping away.
This gentle being resting on my lap I relax and am almost convinced  that I am home knitting with him here in his favorite spot. There is a gorgeous tail to be groomed, teeth to be brushed, maybe nails to be trimmed.
Then all too quickly it is time.Putting him down though, is hard . I know he is in good hands. Lots of loving and goodbye kisses. With us all on one side of the gate and him on the other the latch clicks into place.
For a seven pound dog he stand so tall as we promise to be back soon.
only 75 more days til' he comes home, 11 more Sundays with Yarno the Superdog
