catapult

My how time flies these days. Totally consumed and lost in the process, creating together on a whim of imagination. This time around we created a catapult, and in record time, might I say.Although we had claimed a fair amount of table real estate, the girls were able to squish in and set up for drawing and writing.
(that's our Lilly in the background, asleep in her swing)
Afternoons tend to take on a warm restful tone, when we are all engaded in quiet activities together. Timing just happened to be perfect, we finished
just as our littlest woke up from her afternoon nap.

flowerbuds

The newest edition to my felted flower hair accessories. These little buds have made their way into a few of the gifts that have gone out recently..

Sometimes, felting you favorite sweater is a good thing. Like when you transform it into several new useful things. So happy felting everyone! ..now available.. here

carrots

Too much fun, I think I've made about ten of the large carrots and just as many small. These started with this bunny carrot combo recently gifted to my niece Now they have become a set of their own. I machine sew the basic shape, then turn right side out and stuff with fabric cuttings. Usually, I use bamboo batting to stuff everything. When I need a firmer stuffing, I like to use fabric cuttings (the lumpy texture was an added bonus). Not to mention how very eco friendly it is to save all cuttings and threads for future use. Love that about it! The faces are hand embroidered, and the Organic yarn tops are sewn on by hand as well.

You can catch a glimpse of the bunches in progress here:
and if you would like some for your very own they are available here

paisley

Do you love the paisley? I certainly do, I made up as many wipes as I could with the last yard that was available of this adorable print. These great little sets of four are now available in my shop.

scorpions attack!

"sure... I could make a scorpion"

Little did I know they would become so addictive. To make: I used a combination of clothing fabrics; T-shirt, felted sweater, some fabrics from my stash, and the teeniest glass eyes.

This is my first and test pattern, which Evan quickly claimed as his and wisked it off in his shuttle.

Here is the gifted scorpionpart of this duo now making their way to their new home with my darling niece and nephew.
Love you sis!

windows!

Ta Daah!
Next, we plan to make a door and stairs with railing. But, we were so overjoyed with the new roof and windows, we just couldn't wait. So, painting and decorating has already begun.

It's lovely to have a peaceful lull in the midafternoon, I even got in a bit of crafting.

check back in to see what I'm working on, or do you already know?

Enjoy your weekend!

skate

Ah,.. the skate park.
Yes, the baby is in the bowl, without a helmet...or shoes

Living within walking distance to an elementary school, we have, more often than not, forgone our glorious skate park for the quick walk to the school around the corner.
Last week however, we decided to try something new. It's called a schedule, and that means Thursday nite is skate nite. I am a chronic schedule breaker, avoider , and have been known on several occasions to become quite cranky and lackluster preceding any scheduled event. Don't get me wrong, I love skating just as much as the next mother of four, and I have the scars to prove it too! ;} But, something about knowing what is coming next, just takes all the fun out of it. It's almost like, knowing what your gift is before you unwrap it...or... a bit more like, wearing a turtleneck sweater that's a size too small...in August...and it itches.
Now that we are homeschooling, I love the endless possibilities that our days hold. We have found our own rhythm to the day, some are busy, others more mellow. We paint, sculpt, read, write, color, climb, add, sing, run, dance, explore then we have lunch. ;)
I am constantly amazed at the end of the day thinking back over all that we've done.
Spontaneity is my friend, schedules ... not so much.
So, we'll see just how long I can stick with it this time.
Hey, at least I can use my new board!
and if that fails, there's always this...
Happy Thursday!

dave

..last weekend we left the kids behind (gasp..a suprise date!? YES!) and we were here..
..to see dave..

it was awesome...

grasslands

In an attempt to thoroughly enjoy these last days of summer, I got a bit adventurous. Packed up these four energetic little ones and set off for an early morning hike. Undaunted by the full hour and a half it took us to get out the door. Let's bring our workbooks, I say oblivious to the temperature rising and blood sugar dropping. .

..This is about when I realized my ambitions for the day may have been just a bit too lofty for our troop/ terrain/temperature...

..here is where I completely abandon all plans except one.

Hey who wants to go to the park?...
